National Foundation for Environmental Protection
Founded in December 1998, the National Foundation for Environmental Protection (Narodowa Fundacja Ochrony Środowiska)is a non-governmental organization. Among the founders, there were journalists and managers actively engaged in ecology as well as pro-ecological organizations and large companies concerned about the environmental condition of Poland.
Currently, the Foundation consists of the following departments:

- Ekologiczne Biuro Konsultacyjne (Ecology Consultation Office) - Warszawa
- Centrum Informacji o Środowisku (Environmental Information Center) UNEP/GRID - Warszawa
- Terenowa Pracownia Badawczo-Projektowa (Project and Study Laboratory) - Częstochowa
- Zakład Technicznych Usług Komunalnych (Municipal Technical Utility Works) - Szczecin

Nature Protection
For several years, the Foundation has focused its activity on problems with protecting biodiversity and its sedate use. The Foundation possess large theoretical experience, and experienced personnel, and it cooperates with high-ranking experts. The Foundation specializes in preparing various elaborations to solve local or national problems. These elaborations include e.g. the plan for protected areas, strategy for biodiversity protection, valorization of valuable natural areas.
Environment Protection
As far as technical aspects of environmental protection are concerned, the Foundation’s activity comprises modernization of water and waste-water management, and waste management. The Foundation has a lot of experience and specialized personnel, and is well known in the communal services sector.
Regional Development
It is very important for the National Foundation for Environmental Protection to support regional development. The Foundation cooperates with local governments of different grades and carries out various projects and programs which are meant to support local communities in terms of environmental protection and practical use or implementation of management rules based on sustainable development. (for example: spatial planning elaboration)
Ecological Education
The increasing of knowledge and social consciousness is one of basic goals of the Foundation. Activities in this sector are primarily focused on improvement of education among students, representatives of social organizations, local governments and environment protection services. Various trainings and seminars as well as educational projects are run to reach the educational aim.
Consulting
It is also very important for the Foundation to provide consulting services in the field of environmental protection. Everyone who needs advice can rely on the Foundation’s knowledge and cooperate with experts that work for the Foundation. For example the National Foundation dispenses advice on interpretation of legal regulations or sources of capital for environment-friendly investments.
